Although the volume of PMMA polymer and sheet traded globally in 2013 was unchanged from 2012, there were many changes in regional trade flows.Exports of PMMA polymer from Asia-Pacific increased 14% on strong gains to Western Europe, Eastern Europe, North America and the Middle East. Exports from Western Europe were down 3% despite a moderate increase in shipments to Eastern Europe. North America’s exports fell 13%, a gain to Latin America offset by declines elsewhere.
Prominent trends in trade in PMMA sheet included a 13% increase in exports from Asia-Pacific on higher volumes to all regional markets; the region’s intra-regional trade and imports declined. Intra-regional trade and imports into Western Europe each rose 6%, UK, Belgium and Italy growth import markets. Imports also were higher into Eastern Europe, the Americas and the Middle East.
