Through August, 2025, the most current month available for India, imports of PE film/sheet totaled 282,000 tons, up 52% from the same period the year before. Imports of PP film/sheet were 67,000 tons, up 64%; PET film/sheet, 84,000 tons, up 76%.

Imports of PE film/sheet were widely sourced, leading suppliers including the US, with a minor decline, and Vietnam, China, Thailand, South Korea and Belgium, each with strong gains. The average price in August on the import total was $1374/ton, although prices from several source countries were much lower.

China supplied 45% of India’s PP film/sheet imports, 30,000 tons, up 177% from the prior year. The average price in August on total imports was $1518/ton.

China accounted for 55% of India’s imports of PET film/sheet, 48,000 tons, up 74% from the prior year. The average price in August on total imports was $1558/ton.
