ITP Projects Linear Polyethylene Global Trade of 22.4 Million Tons in 2025, up 2% from 2024.

North America and Middle East are projected to export higher volumes for the year, competing in key regional markets.

Global trade in linear polyethylene is most accurately represented as the combination of specifically identified linear LDPE with an ethylene monomer content of 95% or higher, plus, ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymers with an ethylene monomer content less than 95% and a comonomer as the remainder: LLDPE/EAOC.

ITP’s projections for global trade volume have consistently been within two percentage points of final data. The trend in global trade volume generally indicates the trend in global demand, given supply availability.

North America’s exports of LLDPE/EAOC are projected up 5% in 2025, to 6.6 million tons, the region shipping more polymer to every world region except Asia-Pacific.

Middle East exports of LLDPE/EAOC are projected up 3% in 2025, to 4.7 million tons, mainly on higher volumes to Asia-Pacific plus gains on smaller volumes to Eastern Europe and Africa.
