Singapore is a leading exporter of olefin copolymers, with shipments in the first half of 2012 of: 521,000 tons of ethylene copolymers, up 2%, and 530,000 tons of propylene copolymers, up 9%. China was the top destination for both polymers, followed by numerous others, mainly in the Asia-Pacific region.
Singapore’s exports of HDPE, L/LLDPE and polypropylene increased by 26% – 40%, China, Indonesia and Malaysia leading markets.
Although Singapore’s imports of ethylene copolymers were down by 37% through June, polymer mainly from the US, imports of HDPE, L/LLDPE, polypropylene and propylene copolymers were large and increased 22% – 59%, Saudi Arabia the largest supplier of each polymer.
