A sharp decline in shipments from China, higher exports from the US and also imports into US were notable trends in acrylic acid trade through August 2014.  China’s exports of acrylic acid were heavy in the first half of 2013 but then fell off and continued low in 2014. In 2013, China had exported over 135,000 tons, up nearly double from 2012. Through August 2014, shipments totaled 48,000 tons, down 58%, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Brazil top destinations. China imported 29,000 tons through August, up 25%.

In contrast, US exports swelled in the second half of 2013, but then also eased in 2014.  Versus low volumes early in 2013, shipments posted a 52% gain through July 2014, to 29,000 tons,  Mexico, Brazil, Taiwan and Thailand  top destinations. US imports over the period totaled 21,000 tons, up 53%.
