The highest ever monthly import volumes of mono-ethylene glycol and propylene monomer entered China in January 2014. Imports of ethylene monomer were just below record levels set earlier.Import volumes in January 2014 were: MEG, 936,000 tons; ethylene monomer, 172,000 tons; propylene monomer, 310,000 tons.

Heavy buying in advance of the New Year holiday that started on January 31st was one factor in record imports into China of these and other products, with lower volumes expected in February.
