The volume of EVA traded globally has increased nearly every year since 2016. Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe and Africa have been growth import markets through most of that period.
EVA is a vinyl acetate copolymer with ethylene. Except for a dip in 2018, the volume of EVA traded globally increased each year from 2016 to 2020, rising from 2.38 million tons in 2016 to 2.76 million tons in 2020, a 16% increase over the period.
Imports into Asia-Pacific, the world’s largest importing region, also trended higher each year except for 2018, growing by 25% over the period, from 333,000 tons in 2016 to 417,000 tons in 2020. Imports into the smaller markets of Eastern Europe and Africa rose each year. Imports into Eastern Europe went from 130,000 tons in 2016 to 165,000 tons in 2020, a gain of 27%; imports into Africa rose from 64,000 tons to 110,000 tons over the period, up 72%.
