Singapore imported 1.7 million tons of commodity polymers through July 2018, up 11%, and exported 4.2 million tons, up 6%.
Imports of ethylene polymers were 1.3 million tons, up 15%, of which 1.03 million tons was from Saudi Arabia, up 20%, with 111,000 tons from the US, up 80%. Imports of propylene polymers were 369,000 tons, up 2%, 224,000 tons of which was from Saudi Arabia.
Of the 4.2 million tons of polymer Singapore exported through July, ethylene polymers were 2.7 million tons, up 9%; propylene polymers were 1.3 million tons, up 2%. Singapore’s exports include re-exports. China is the top export destination, with sizable volumes also to Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Singapore imported 76,000 tons of fabricated plastic products, up 4%. Most of this was PE, PP and PET film/sheet, plus PVC floor and wall coverings.
