Substantially higher butadiene export from Western Europe and Latin America were prominent trade trends through May, 2016.
The volume of butadiene traded globally through May, 2016 was over 1 million tons, up 11% from the same period in the prior year, indicating increased demand.
Western Europe exported 171,000 tons, up 75%, mainly to Asia-Pacific and North America. Exports from Latin America were 70,000 tons, nearly all of which went to the US.
Shipments from the Middle East of 73,000 tons were down 1%, and went mainly to Asia-Pacific, shipped from Iran and Saudi Arabia.
