Russia’s PP Exports Up More than Double; Imports Down Slightly

Russia exported 105,000 tons of polypropylene homopolymer through September, up 102% versus the prior year according to official Russian statistics, which were delayed.

New capacity was reflected in shipments YTD to top destinations China, Ukraine, Turkey and Belgium,  all of which were up. Most of the gains, however, took place in the first half of the year, volume in June rising to a record 20,000 tons. Exports fell sharply in the third quarter, to around 7000 tons per month.

Russia imported 76,000 tons through September, down 6%, Turkmenistan and South Korea leading suppliers.
