In 2016, Eastern Europe, including Turkey, imported 4 million tons of ethylene polymers from other regions, primarily Western Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific. Import volume in 2016 was up 5% from 2015.

Western Europe supplied 2.2 million tons of Eastern Europe’s total in 2016, up 9% from the prior year. Another 1.1 million tons entered Eastern Europe from the Middle East, also up 9%. Imports from Asia-Pacific were 0.5 million tons, up 2%. Although volumes were small, imports of LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE from North America all increased.
