Shipments totaled 3.2 million tons through April, up 5.3% from the same period in 2021, on a big gain to Western Europe and higher volumes to all other regions except Asia-Pacific.
US exports to Western Europe showed the largest volume gain from last year, an increase of 126,000 tons. Exports to that region totaled 602,000 tons through April, up 26%. Latin America continued as the US’s largest export destination, with 1.45 million tons, up 4%. Exports to Asia-Pacific fell by 10%, to 789,000 tons, a drop of 90,000 tons.
