Of fifteen large volume imports, each exceeding 1 million tons, imports of only three products were up September 2022 YTD from the same period in 2021.

The release of China’s trade statistics was delayed until the end of the National Congress. September 2022 YTD import data showed lower volumes for each of the following leading import products, except benzene, methanol and liquefied propane gas. There were particularly steep declines reported on imports of polyolefins, ABS, p-xylene and LNG.
