The United Arab Emirates’ exports of polyethylene and polypropylene increased substantially in 2014, and shipments grew through the first half of 2015.
Exports of HDPE were up 31% in 2014, to 994,000 tons, based on trading partner imports. Exports visible through June 2015 totaled 536,000 tons, up 19%.
Exports of LLDPE were up 15% in 2014, to 216,000 ton, with a 47% increase in the first half of 2015, to 133,000 tons. LDPE exports were 127,000 tons in 2014, up 16%, and 75,000 tons through June, up 74%.
Polypropylene homopolymer exports posted more moderate increases, up 11% in 2014, to 393,000 tons, and 7% through June 2015, to 139,000 tons.
China, India, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, New Zealand and Egypt were among UAE’s export destinations.
