Butylene global trade in 2017 was just over 1 million tons, a 2% increase from 2016.
Most of the volume traded globally was intra-regional trade within Western Europe and Asia-Pacific, of over 300,000 tons each. Trade within Western Europe contracted by 11%; Asia-Pacific intra-regional trade was up 4%.
The Middle East was the largest volume regional importer, receiving nearly 100,000 tons of butylene from Western Europe and Asia-Pacific, nearly all of which went to Saudi Arabia.
