The US exported 165,000 tons of ethylene in 2016, up 10% from 2015, shipments to China, Taiwan and Belgium accounting for over three-quarters of the total.

US exports tend to vary greatly from year to year and to fluctuate widely from month to month. Shipments were minor in 2014 and through April 2015. Exports in May 2015 jumped to 33,000 tons; volumes in following month through December 2106 ranged from nearly zero to as high as 28,000 tons.
