Although China’s exports remain depressed of many fabricated plastic products that can be identified by specific polymer, shipments of PVC floor and wall coverings set a new record in June 2020, mainly on volumes to the United States.
China exported 469,000 tons of PVC floor and wall coverings in June, raising its YTD total to 1.2 million tons, up 17% from the first half of 2019.
Exports to the US surged to 302,000 tons in June, up from around 150,000 tons per month through the first quarter. Volume YTD totaled 1.3 million tons, up 29%.
Globally, trade in PVC flour and wall coverings was down 1% through June, to 1.8 million tons, on lower intra-regional trade in Europe and Asia-Pacific and lower imports into Europe, Africa and Latin America. Trade is projected to show a 4% decline by yearend, to 4.6 million tons.
