US Exports of Ethylene Polymers were down 2% in 2017
Shipments totaled 5.3 million tons for the year, with volumes at record high levels early in the year, a slowdown from May through November, then a surge in December.
17 Million Tons of Ethylene Polymers Projected to be Exported out of the Middle East in 2017, up 9%
Exports from the Middle East to all other regions of LDPE/LLDPE, HDPE, EVA and Ethylene Copolymers (Ethylene-alpha-Olefins Copolymers plus Other Ethylene Copolymers) are projected by International Trader Publications to be up 9% at yearend 2017 versus 2016, to 17.1 million tons. This is an increase of 1.4 million tons from the prior year.

Imports into Western Europe from all other regions of LDPE/LLDPE, HDPE, EVA and Ethylene Copolymers (Ethylene-alpha-Olefins Copolymers plus Other Ethylene Copolymers) are projected by International Trader Publications to be down 4% at yearend 2017 versus 2016, to 4 million tons. Continue reading
60 Million Tons of Ethylene Polymers Trade Projected Globally for 2017, up 6%
Trade in LDPE/LLDPE, HDPE, EVA and Ethylene Copolymers is projected by International Trader Publications to be up by 6% at yearend 2017 versus the prior year, to nearly 60 million tons.
China’s Imports of Ethylene Polymers Up 20% Through October
China imported 11 million tons of ethylene polymers through October 2017, up 20%. Imports of all grades were up substantially and volume has been heavy since August.
US Exports of Ethylene Polymers Down 3% Through October
The United States exported a total of 4.5 million tons of ethylene polymers through October 2017, down 3% from the prior year. The small decline was the net of lower shipments of LLDPE and HDPE, partly offset by gains on exports of LDPE, EVA and Ethylene Copolymers.
Strong Start to China’s Polymer Trade in January 2017
Although volumes are expected to drop in February, imports in January 2017 of LLDPE, HDPE, EVA, polypropylene, propylene copolymers all were up substantially from January 2016. Imports of recycle PE, PP and also PET posted gains. Shipments of fabricated plastic products remained at record levels for the third month in a row. Continue reading
