China’s Trade June 2016 YTD: Generally Lower Imports; Big Gains on Some Exports
China’s imports of most polymers and chemical were lower in the first half of 2016 than in the same period in the prior year. Exceptions were imports of: ethylene, EVA, propylene oxide and, especially, methanol. China’s exports of PVC, polypropylene, PTA, VAM and non-expandable polystyene surged. Shipments of polyethylene also were up. Continue reading
India: Strong Import Market for Many Polymers and Chemicals
In contrast to trends in China, India’s imports of many basic chemicals and polymers posted large percentage increases through the third quarter of 2015 versus the same period in 2014. Continue reading
Latest Trade Projections for 2015
Trade indicates trends in global demand. Increased trade volume generally indicates growth in demand; decreased trade volume indicates contraction. Continue reading
Focus on: Iran’s Polymer and Chemical Exports in the First Half of 2015
Iran’s exports of several large volume polymers and chemicals were up sharply in the first half of 2015 versus the prior year. These products were shipped primarily to just three markets, China, India and Turkey, a situation which will change should sanctions be lifted. Continue reading
MEG – Major Trade Trends in 2014
ITP’s analysis of global trade projects a 1% increase in the volume of MEG traded in 2014 versus 2013, to 14.5 million tons. A small increase in global trade volume generally indicates an equally small increase in global demand.
Increased Global Trade Volume Projected for 2014 for Several Engineering Polymers and Other Products
Demand drives global trade. ITP projects increased global trade volume in 2014 versus 2013 for numerous products, indicating increased demand. Continue reading
All-time Record High Imports of MEG and Propylene Monomer into China in January 2014
The highest ever monthly import volumes of mono-ethylene glycol and propylene monomer entered China in January 2014. Imports of ethylene monomer were just below record levels set earlier. Continue reading
MEG and DEG Global Trade Volume Likely to End the Year Up Slightly
Global trade volume is projected to be up 2% for both MEG and DEG in 2012 versus 2011. Robust import demand in Asia-Pacific was offset by declines in Europe and the Americas. For widely traded products, global trade is an indicator of apparent demand. Continue reading
