China’s LNG Imports up 19% Through February 2019
Despite a steep drop in imports in February 2019 due to the Chinese New Year holiday, as well as slowing winter demand, China’s imports year to date, 10.9 million tons, were up 19% from the same two-month period in 2018.

China imported a record 6 million tons of LNG during November 2018, raising the year to date import volume to 47.6 million tons, an increase of 43% from the same period in 2017.
China’s Imports of LNG were up 54% Through May 2018
After slowing throughout the first quarter, China’s imports of LNG picked up in both April and May.
China Imports Butanes at Record Levels
After trending downward for most of 2016 and into early 2017 China’s imports of liquefied butane gases soared to a new record high of 557,000 ton in May and continued to rise in June, reaching 587,000 tons. Average prices slipped in both months, to $433/ton in June.
Saudi Arabia – Butylene Imports
In 2015, several countries reported exports of butylene to Saudi Arabia totaling over 46,000 tons. Through April, 2016, over 44,000 tons have already been shipped to that market.
EDC/VCM – Major Trade Trends in 2014
ITP’s analysis of global trade projects a 3% increase in the volume of EDC traded in 2014 versus 2013, to over 3 million tons. VCM global trade volume contracted by 1%, to 3.5 million tons. Increases or decreases in global trade volume generally indicate the same trends in global demand.
