Exports from the Middle East to all other regions of LDPE/LLDPE, HDPE, EVA and Ethylene Copolymers (Ethylene-alpha-Olefins Copolymers plus Other Ethylene Copolymers) are projected by International Trader Publications to be up 9% at yearend 2017 versus 2016, to 17.1 million tons. Trade in LDPE/LLDPE, HDPE, EVA and Ethylene Copolymers is projected by International Trader Publications to be up by 6% at yearend 2017 versus the prior year, to nearly 60 million tons.
Global Trade in Ethylene Polymers Up 7%; North American Exports Down 8%
The volume of ethylene polymers traded globally was up 7% through September 2017, to over 43 million tons of LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, EVA and Copolymers shipped around the world.
Recent Trends in Polyethylene Film and Sheet Global Trade
Global trade in PE film/sheet was nearly 5 million tons in 2016, up 7% from the prior year. Trade volume through July 2017 was up 6%. Trade within the regions of Western Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America, and also shipments between Western and Eastern Europe, are prominent trade patterns for PE film and sheet.
Global Butadiene Trade Volume Up 8% Through June 2017
Butadiene trade totaled over 1.3 million tons in the first half of 2017, up 8% from the same period in 2016. Prominent trends included increased imports into Asia-Pacific and expanded trade within the region, a strong increase in exports from Latin America, and lower exports from Western Europe.
North America’s Trade in PE Film and Sheet
North America is a relatively small exporter and importer of PE film and sheet, compared with Western Europe and Asia-Pacific.
The Eastern European Import Market for Polyethylene
