Propylene Copolymers: Current Global Trade Trends

The volume of propylene copolymers traded globally, 3.2 million tons, was up 8% through May, 2015 from the prior year, based on reporting countries. (This compares with a 3% increase in exports of polypropylene homopolymer for the period.) Shipments increased from each of the top four exporting regions: Western Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and North America. Exports from the Middle East had the highest percentage increase.

LDPE World Trade Volume up 7% in First Quarter of 2014; LLDPE up 3%; HDPE up 6%

Reduced Polypropylene Exports from the Middle East Shift Global Trade Flows

Middle East exports of polypropylene homopolymer have been down since February 2013, with lower shipments to Asia-Pacific, Western and Eastern Europe and Africa. Other trends evident in the first half of the year were expanded trade within the Asia-Pacific region and substantially higher imports into Eastern Europe from other regions.  Continue reading
